Thames Valley Police Milton Keynes have launched Operation Darknight in response to the darker evenings. This initiative aims to tackle burglaries across Milton Keynes during the winter months and targeting those offenders who often prey on the most vulnerable members of our community.

The operation is being led by Detectives from the Priority Crime Team, supported by partner agencies including the Community Safety Team.

Please find enclosed a new poster that we have designed which lists some helpful crime prevention advice – Light it up: keep burglars out. Please can you share this on social media, websites, newsletters and in community spaces so that we reach as many people as possible.

Here are some of the main crime prevention tips:

Always close and lock doors and windows when leaving your home or going to bed.

Keep valuables locked up and out of sight.

Consider using timer switches for lights to give the impression someone is home.
