May to July
An outdoor Rogation Service, recognising the role and importance of farming in our rural village, was held at Grange Farm on Sunday 1st May at 17:00hrs, and was followed by tea and cakes.
Chicheley’s occasional Music Quiz returned to the Village Hall on the evening of Saturday 14th May. There was the usual eclectic mix of music from Purcell to Puccini and Passenger. Being Chicheley, there was of course food........lots of food.........delicious food......including sausage and mash and the usual amazing range of desserts.
An event to celebrate the Queen’s 90th birthday was held in the newly reclaimed walled garden behind St Lawrence Church on 11th June. Many Chicheley villagers took part and enjoyed the lovely weather that defied the pessimistic forecasts. Mrs Sparshott provided an exquisitely decorated a cake celebrating the Queen’s birthday. It was cut by one of our own nonagenarians Mrs Jo Duncombe and enjoyed after a champagne toast by David Roberston. Many thanks to all those who organised the event, set up the furniture and gazebos, and provided the delicious food.
Chicheley’s own celebration of Quatorze Juillet was held on 16th July at the home of Pierre and Christine Girard with appropriate French food, wine and hospitality.
