Luckily, Chicheley is situated on high ground.
It is hard to believe that a year ago we were enjoying a dry winter, and that by spring 2012 water restrictions were in place to conserve water supplies.
Since early summer 2012 it seems to have rained heavily and continuously. Being situated on relatively high ground, Chicheley has been safe from the flooding that has damaged so many properties throughout the UK. However, we have seen heavy flooding in fields of the Ouse Valley near Newport Pagnell and Olney.
The fields around Chicheley are absolutely saturated by rainwater and this is preventing the farming activities that normally take place at this time of year.
Water has been accumulating on the roads and lanes, and for a short time there was a small “lake” at the end of the driveway to Chicheley Hall.
