Chicheley celebrated the life of Pat Jewell at her funeral on 9th June.

Pat and her late husband Doug became landlords of The Chester Armns in the mid 1980s.  They made it a great success, and the centre of village social life. The pub became renowned for its traditional food and Sunday roasts, and was the destination of choice to see in the New Year.  Pat and Doug provided a great opportunity for many Chicheley teenagers to gain their first experience of work, and dealing with people, as waiting staff and kitchen hands.

After they retired, Pat and Doug continued their hospitality at Christmas and New Year by opening their doors at The Old School House right up until 31st December 2016.

Pat and Doug made a huge contribution to Chicheley social life and will be sorely missed. Our sincere condolences and thoughts go to their family, who we hope will continue to maintain contact with Chicheley.
