An extremely sad occasion.

Family, friends, villagers, and customers of The Chester Arms gathered at St Lawrence’s Church to say farewell to a much loved and respected resident, Doug Jewell.

Doug was for many years landlord of The Chester Arms pub in Chicheley. Always smiling and with a positive attitude to life, he was a true gentleman and a wonderful host. He was a modest man, and few of us were aware of his former success as a businessman, and the fact that he was a Freeman of The City of London.

He will be deeply missed.
