Exchange visit with Rotary Club of Newport Pagnell.

Members of the Rotary Club of Ede, Holland visited Chicheley as part of their exchange visit with the Rotary Club of Newport Pagnell. The two Rotary Clubs have been twinned for many years and have worked together to support charity projects.

Rotary International is a world-wide association of clubs for men and women in business and the professions. It started in 1905 and has spread until there are 25,000 clubs and 1.2 million members globally.

Rotary’s motto is “Service Above Self” and its main aims are:

 - To provide humanitarian service to the community at local, national and international level.

 - To encourage high ethical standards in all vocations.

 - To work for goodwill and peace in the world.

Locally, the Rotary Club of Newport Pagnell is a major supporter of Willen Hospice. Internationally it contributes to the programme for eradication of polio, and provision of “shelter boxes” that provide emergency accommodation after disasters such as the Japanese tsunami.
