Film of Ted Duncombe’s Wartime Memories

The late, and sadly missed Ted Duncombe was for many years the well known and well loved tenant of Grange Fram, Chicheley.

In his early life Ted had a great interest in flying, and qualified as a pilot through a government sponsored scheme shortly before World War 2.  He subsequently joined the Royal Air Force and progressed to being a Wellington Bomber pilot.

On his fourth mission, Ted’s plane was shot down, his arm was badly injured, and he spent the remainder of the war in captivity as a Prisoner of War.

Ted’s family kindly permitted the “World Premiere” of a film of his recorded memories of his wartime experience to be shown.  Chicheley Village Hall was full to capacity, reflecting the interest in, and respect for Ted.

As usual for Chicheley, the evening was complemented by excellent food.
