Chicheley COVID-19 Relief

Many thanks to residents of Bedlam Walk who have initiated a support group to help Chicheley residents during the Covid-19 lockdown.

This message has been delivered to all houses in Chicheley, so the names and contact numbers have been removed from this copy for the privacy of the volunteers.

"It’s a really scary time, especially for those of you who are totally self-isolating, but we have a few volunteers, and this is how we plan to help:

With this flyer is a red card. Please display this in your window if you need help in some way.

Our volunteers will be operating a ‘walk & wave’ scheme. At least every other day (& in compliance with all government regulations about lock down) a volunteer will walk past all the houses in the village to check on the well-being of all residents.

If we see that there is a problem with a red card, we will make contact with you, either by knocking at your window or phoning you if we have your number. If you are happy to give your number to your local volunteers, please do, so we can reach you.

We are also here to chat either via phone, or one of the other platforms (WhatsApp, Zoom, Skype etc) & can help you set these up. We know this is a very strange & lonely time, especially if you are on your own & want to help or are in need of company.

Please try not to panic regarding food supplies.

The Chester Arms has some limited supplies for purchase and collection by local residents, call them on 01234 391214 or see the chalkboard at the end of Bedlam Lane for details.  They are also asking for any bottles we may be able to let them have so they can bottle up milk for purchase.

Brown’s of Stagsden (01234 822330) are operating an order and collection service (24 hours’ notice) for meat, bread, cheese, eggs, vegetables and some general pantry products.

G.J Roberts the Butcher (01908 610421) in Newport Pagnell are offering a same-day order and collect service for meat, eggs, cheese etc.

If flatbreads are your thing, the guy at Olney farmers market is taking orders and delivering on Thurs and they’re v nice (http://www.repleteflatbreads.co.uk/)

Please where possible, make full use of local suppliers who deliver.

We hope to be able to get hold of supplies for people who are self-isolating soon. If you need such, please contact one of your local volunteers. There may be some difficulty with current restrictions so we would ask for you to be as flexible as you can.

We are planning regular trips to local pharmacies. Please contact one of your local volunteers if you require medical supplies collecting.

Please reach out if you need help.
